Diamonds
The quality and value of a diamond is defined by four criteria, 4C (Cut, Carat, Clarity, Color), diamond size, weight, purity and the color of the diamond. These four criteria are also present on the certificate accompanying your future single stone ring or any stone above 0.4 carats.
Carat
The weight of the diamond is expressed in carats (cts) while the color and purity are described by letters. Color is graded from D to Z. The more colorless the diamond, the costlier the diamond.
The 4 C's of Diamonds
Clarity
The purity of a diamond is measured in terms of inclusions: the fewer, the purer the diamond. Purity is graduated IF with no visible inclusion in the x10 lens to I with many inclusions very easily visible to the naked eye. The fewer the inclusions, the higher the price of the diamond.
Color
Thus, the value of a diamond is determined by it's size, color, purity and geometry. Diamonds come in every colour of the rainbow naturally, though white diamonds are used most in jewellery. Coloured diamonds, also called fancy diamonds are rated according to criteria such as the intensity and hue of colours.

Round
The ultimate sparkler, in diamonds the round brilliant cut is the most favored diamond shape for the reason that its brilliance is unequaled by any other cut. This cut is less common in for most other gemstones.
Princess
Noble finesse. The high brilliance of the princess cut makes it a favorite for engagement rings. This shape can be more square or rectangular, as stones vary variations in length-to-width ratio.
Emerald
Asscher
On top of the world. The emerald cut owes its striking, elegant beauty to the step cuts of its pavilion and its large, open table emphasizing the clarity of the diamond. Unlike the brilliance of the brilliant cut, this cut has a dramatic hall-of-mirrors effect, with alternating flashes of long darker and lighter planes. Originally this shape was created for the cutting of emeralds, hence its name.
The Asscher cut diamond is akin to a square emerald cut, yet usually features larger step facets, a higher crown, and a smaller table. For this reason, the Asscher often produces more brilliance than the emerald cut and can be described as monumentally elegant and luxurious looking.
Marquise
To the manor born. The vessel-shaped marquise cut derives it's titled name from the Marquise of Pompadour, for whom King Louis XIV had the shape created to match her, as he thought, perfect lips. This cut is a transformed brilliant-cut and its spectacular elongated form can make the finger of the wearer appear longer and slimmer.
Oval
Based on the brilliant cut, the oval cut is classically chic. For rings, this a shape for those who would like similar brilliance as the brilliant, yet prefer a more unusual style. In rings, the oval cut also makes the wearer's fingers appear longer and slimmer.
Radiant
High status statement. The radiant cut is a bold, impressive square cut with a brilliant-cut facet pattern on both the crown and pavilion. This is cut is particularly well adapted for diamonds and makes a dazzling centerpiece for a ring.
Pear
The lovely pear shape cut is a brilliant cut combined with a marquise cut. In rings, this shape is worn with the pointy end pointing toward the hand of the wearer and makes the finger of the wearer appear longer and slimmer.
Heart
Pure romance, the heart shape cut is perfect for a jewel that is offered as a symbol of love. Its proportions must be symmetric and both halves identical.
Cushion
Distinction incarnate, the cushion cut is a square cut with gently rounded corners. This is a sophisticated shape for those who are looking for discreet, but compelling beauty.

Noteworthy. Diamonds can be faceted in all above shapes and cuts listed here above. Many colored precious gemstones can be faceted in these shapes and cuts as well, although certain shapes and cuts are more suitable for some gemstones than others. We will be happy to advise you as regards the possiblities.
The Ruby
Rubies are gems of the mineral corundum as are Sapphires. Yet rubies must have a color between orangey red and a slightly purplish red to be considered rubies. The most desirable color is a pure vibrant red.
Very few of the corundums mined exhibit a natural color that lies within the spectrum required for a ruby and also have the clarity required to produce an excellent
faceted gemstone.
The Sapphire
Sapphires are corundums ranging in color from a light blue to dark blue. The blue can vary from a violet blue to a greenish blue. The most desirable stones are in the middle of this range, with is rich blue color.
The STAR SAPPHIRE is a six-rayed star which can be seen floating on the surface
of the cabochon.
The Emerald
Emeralds are the deep green color variety of the mineral known as beryl. A Beryl must have must have a rich green color that ranges between bluish green, green, and slightly yellowish green in order to be classified as the precious emerald.
Emeralds are rare and valuable, and natural emeralds are usually marked with fractures and abundant inclusions. This feature makes it easy to differentiate a real emerald from a synthetic one.
